Episode Discussion Guide

Season 1, Episode Eight - Discussion Guide

Season 1 Episode 8

Watch

Oh, you know the drill: go ahead and invite the group to offer a recap of the previous episode.

Discuss

While there is certainly room in the questions below to address what unfolded in Episode Eight, this particular guide is designed to stir reflection on Season 1 as a whole.[1]

  1. If you had to choose one storyline from Season 1, that spoke most deeply to you, which one would you choose and why?

  2. We’ve talked storylines; was there a particular line of dialogue in Season 1 that has really taken hold of you—and why do you think it has?

  3. Let’s shift to lines of dialogue spoken by Jesus—be it a line lifted right from Scripture or one imaginatively inspired by Scripture. Which one from this first season is rolling around in your head and why?

  4. Let’s shift to characters. Is there one Season 1 character you find yourself identifying with the most? Why is that?

  5. The season as a whole ends (in part) with scenes of Photina, the woman at the well, running to tell others about the man she’s just encountered. We’ve spent eight weeks encountering Jesus in new ways through The Chosen, and Photina’s example leaves us with three questions:

● Who in your life needs to hear from you about him?

● What is it that’s holding you back?

● What might it look like for you to meaningfully and thoughtfully tell them about him?

Pray

Here are the usual two questions to guide your group’s closing prayer—but with season-ending twist:

  1. If you were to offer a word of thanks to God for something that comforted you in this season as a whole, what would it be?

  2. If you were to ask God’s help in living life in a new way in light of this season, how would you sum up this new way of life?
